Last week, Triton Security were thrilled to see the draft Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Bill published by the UK Home Office.
The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Bill, also known as Martyn’s Law was announced in December 2022 after the devastating Manchester Arena terrorist attack.
This bill sees the introduction of a tiered system for locations and venues, depending on capacity and the activities taking place. A standard tier will apply to public premises with capacity of 100+ people. An enhanced tier will apply to premises and events with capacity of 800+ people.
This system will help venues ensure they are prepared and are ready to respond should an attack occur.
Commercial Director, Lauren Paver commented, “We are delighted to see the advancement of this bill and the draft now released by the UK Home Office. Ensuring safety of the public at events, both large and small, is imperative and we are proud to be able to support our partners in fulfilling this responsibility.”
At Triton Security, we have been working closely with our partners to support the implementation of new safety laws. Across specific client sites, we have completed Security and Vulnerability assessments to ensure the correct precautions are in place.
